Many companies closed during the pandemic, but many also opened and new entrepreneurs became part of this world. Entrepreneurship has never been so prominent. Plenty of professionals faced unemployment, and one of the options was to start a business. Do you know the challenges an entrepreneur faces?

WHAT IS AN ENTREPRENEUR?

In short, an entrepreneur is someone who imagines and achieves their objectives even in the face of adversity or obstacles. They also:

  • Have a vision of the future
  • Are perceptive
  • Take action
  • Are innovative
  • Have courage
  • Stay up to date with changes in the market economy

Being an entrepreneur is not that simple. It means always thinking from every angle, with success in view, and studying ways of sparking a customer's interest through your product, service or brand.

An entrepreneur also matters a great deal to society, because they are responsible for economic and social growth, and contribute new opportunities in the labour market along the path of free competition.

Alongside producing autonomy, an entrepreneur has the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and abilities, which is an important step towards improving their financial life.

WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF AN ENTREPRENEUR?

An entrepreneur has to be open to what is new, because the more knowledge in a given area the better. The entrepreneur needs to be creative, with the ability to look for viable and better solutions to problems.

One of the challenges is dealing with people, which is why leadership is essential, being able to make a strong case to convince your team and to mobilise the energy of a group so it reaches a specific objective.

He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.** Ronald Reagan

One of the main challenges is dealing with costs and deadlines, which is why the ability to plan becomes indispensable, meaning mapping and analysing the resources and conditions available in order to structure a long-term view and reach your objectives effectively.

Resilience even in the middle of difficulty, meaning not giving up, because failing means you are on the right path.

Persuasion to present your idea well, or to argue convincingly so that everyone understands and buys into your idea and puts it into practice.

Another very important characteristic is the ability to negotiate. Reaching agreements with other companies, according to the interests of the parties involved. Using negotiation and persuasion technique well is crucial to a successful entrepreneur.

HOWEVER, AN ENTREPRENEUR SHOULD TAKE PARTICULAR CARE:

  • Avoid excessive spending
  • Commitment to financing
  • Cash flow balance

This care is essential above all for anyone starting out. Be cautious and do not rush, stay calm and analyse every criterion planned so it is put into action at the right moment.

OTHER CHALLENGES THE ENTREPRENEUR FACES:

  • Identifying and analysing opportunities
  • Developing a business plan
  • Determining and raising the resources needed
  • Managing the business

It is important to analyse risks, opportunities, skills and goals, and marketing is necessary to promote your brand, product or service. Working capital is essential, along with structuring the company and thinking about how to enter new markets.

Being a successful entrepreneur therefore requires vision, planning, creativity, resilience, being a good negotiator and knowing how to persevere. Be innovative and, whatever the obstacle, do not give up, because the greatest entrepreneurs faced many obstacles and, had they given up, would not be where they are today.
