Installing and activating the software

From the installer to your first event, and what to do when activation fails.

Installing

Download the installer from the download page and run it. The wizard installs the program for your user, and you do not need to be a machine administrator.

If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info and then Run anyway. The warning appears because the installer is distributed outside the Microsoft Store.

Activating

Open the program. On first run it asks for the activation code, in the format RS-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, emailed to you after purchase.

Activation uses the Internet once. After that the software works offline: during the event, nothing depends on the venue's network.

The code contains no 0, O, 1, I or L. If you are reading what looks like a zero, the capital O is not there either; it is probably a Q or a D. When in doubt, copy and paste from the email.

When activation fails

"Code not found": check the typing. If the code came through a forwarded email, make sure it was not truncated.

"License already activated on another computer": each license covers one machine. If you changed computers, see the article on that. If you need two machines at the same time, there is an additional license.

"Could not identify this computer": this happens on virtual machines and on some heavily locked-down computers, where the program cannot read enough hardware information. Write to support with the machine model.

No response from the server: check that the computer really has Internet and that no corporate antivirus is blocking the connection. Activation uses HTTPS on port 443, like any website.

First event

With the license active, create the event, import participants from an .xlsx or .csv spreadsheet and enter how many tables and seats the room holds. The system builds the grid, and from then on you can unplug the Internet.
